How to Continue the Same Saved Giraffe Project in ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini

Giraffe does not synchronize chats between AI assistants
ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini remain separate conversations. Giraffe provides a different continuity layer: a supported assistant can read the same explicitly maintained Giraffe Project state.
That Project may contain current facts, decisions, open questions, notes, and documents. The user chooses what is saved.
The cross-AI workflow
1. Work in the first assistant
Use the assistant normally. When the conversation produces a conclusion worth keeping, explicitly save it to a Giraffe Project.
For example:
- Current: launch date is December 1.
- Decision: reporting will not ship in version one.
- Open question: confirm final pricing.
2. Open the Project in Giraffe
Check that the saved state is understandable without the original conversation. This human-readable check is important: the Project should represent the undertaking, not merely echo the chat.
3. Connect the second supported assistant
Use Giraffe’s dated setup guide for the provider. Provider requirements and interfaces can change, so this article does not reproduce fragile menu-by-menu instructions.
4. Ask the second assistant to read the Project
The second assistant reads the explicit Giraffe Project state. It is not receiving the first assistant’s complete chat transcript.
5. Save only new conclusions
If the second conversation changes a decision or resolves a question, update the same Giraffe Project. The maintained Project remains the shared state; the conversations remain separate.
What crosses between assistants
What crosses is the information the user has explicitly saved to Giraffe.
What does not cross automatically:
- complete chat histories;
- every prompt and response;
- hidden reasoning;
- unsaved conclusions;
- provider-specific memory.
This boundary prevents the workflow from being described as automatic chat synchronization.
Why this can still help one-assistant users
Cross-AI continuity is useful, but it is not Giraffe’s only purpose. A person who stays entirely in one assistant can use the same Project to keep the current state readable, inspect decisions, and preserve earlier values in history.
The primary model is explicit project state. Multiple assistants are an optional way to read and update that state.
Use current setup guides
Giraffe’s public documentation describes connections for Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Because provider interfaces and eligibility can change, follow the current instructions on the official Connect an AI assistant page at setup time.
The official How Giraffe works page also documents current provider-specific notes and the explicit-save model.
Same Project, separate conversations
The clearest description is:
Save useful project state from one supported assistant, then read that same Giraffe Project from another.
That is continuity through an explicit Project—not synchronization of chats.
